T/SAL

Thackray/Seal Adventure Language. The games listed here were developed on a system called Phoenix (the name of both the machine and its operating system) at Cambridge University between 1978 and 1985. This was probably the first adventure authoring system to be used by people other than its creators. In more recent times, Graham Nelson, Adam Atkinson and Gunther Schmidl have written a perl script to compile T/SAL source code into Z-code.

Quite a few of the Phoenix games were published commercially by Acornsoft and Topologika. See their listings for platform-specific executables of T/SAL games for which the source code is not available.
