Uncle Zebulon's Will
| Author: | Magnus Olsson | | Genre: | Fantasy | | Released: | 1995 | | Review: | Uncle Zebulon was a crackpot who fancied himself a wizard. Now that he's
dead, you discover that his fancies were true. A pleasant little game set
in a mixed fantasy/modern environment (like much of the Zork
and Unnkulia games), with simple magic-based puzzles.

Earth and Sky 2: Another Earth, Another Sky
Part of Earth and Sky
| Author: | Paul O'Brian | | Genre: | Superhero | | Released: | 2002 | | Review: | This game continues the charming vein of Earth and Sky, this time from the point of view of the brother in the brother-sister pair. This episode is longer than the first one, with relatively easy but well-designed puzzles and a compact, memorable setting. It features entertaining NPC dialogue, and advances the unfolding narrative arc quite nicely. Uses Glulx's multimedia abilities to include comic-book-style sound effects -- a very satisfying touch.

The Island of Infinity
| Author: | Alex Freeman | | Genre: | Science Fiction>Time Travel | | Released: | 2003 | | Review: | Oh dear. Such a large game and such a great title... yet so little substance. Or inspiration. Or talent. Unhappily, The Island of Infinity is not a wonderland of exciting diversity, but a boring, flawed, and repetitive wasteland, only brightened by the occassional pun. It wants to be Myst, but it just isn't. What's wrong, you ask? Well, almost none of the over 200 locations specify where the valid exits are. Over a third of those locations are named "The Open", designating an open area of no particular interest; in fact, very few of the locations are interesting at all. Descriptions of objects and locations are annoyingly brief, uncolorful, and rarely helpful. Likewise, support for synonyms and for alternative command syntaxes is also in short supply. Some objects are missing. Puzzles are lacklustre and mostly of the math geek variety, eg: what's the next number in the Fibonacci series. The code is buggy and untested; for example, several actions that award points can be performed over and over again, gaining you even more points. And much of the story simply doesn't make much sense. When you do get story, it comes out in one gigantic screen-filling paragraph: a severe contrast to the game's usual brevity. The worst flaw, though, is near the end. It's a pure read-author's-mind moment where you are expected to ask a particular type of question. Even if you guess the right question, you probably won't guess the right syntax without disassembling the code. (rot-13 the answer: fnl "jvyy lbh fnl ab")

The Door to Utopia
| Author: | David Whyld | | Genres: | Fantasy>Mythological>Afterlife
Humor | | Released: | 2002 | | Review: | Freshly deceased and on the brink of damnation, you receive one final chance to wander your neighborhood and make amends for enough minor sins to tip the balance. A smallish game, crammed brimful with juvenile quips and occasional gruesomeness. Riddled with minor bugs, but nothing game-stopping. (One puzzle really looks like a game-stopping bug, but it's just an imitation of one.)

Yet Another Damn Fantasy Adventure
Lock & Key
| Author: | Adam Cadre | | Genre: | Fantasy | | Released: | 2002 | | Review: | A neat one-big-puzzle game about dungeon design. Basically, the player lays out doors and deathtraps according to various constraints and then watches an Adventurer try to escape. Highly enjoyable, reasonably deep simulation with a well-thought-out user interface and a good sense of humor (including quite a few references to other games.)
Varicella-style gameplay: a repeated fail-and-restart cycle, with each play-through being fairly short.
Contains graphical elements that, although not strictly necessary for winning the game, help enormously in keeping track of what you've put where.
