Starrider
| Author: | Maximilian Kalus | | Genre: | Science Fiction | | Released: | 1999 | | Review: | To play this game, you should have a working knowledge of German. Here is a brief synopsis in English: You are travelling as a stowaway in a spaceship, hoping to reach Chalybes. But as the temperature drops, you risk to leave your container, only to find the whole crew murdered...

No Room
| Author: | Ben Heaton | | Released: | 2003 | | Review: | The main idea behind this work was creating a game without even a single room definition. I've never coded in Inform, but from my TADS experience I can tell it must have been quite a feat. For players less versed in programming it's probably not as interesting; still, the only puzzle in the game (of the "find a light source" type) is worth the approx. 10 minutes it takes to solve it.

Guss's Death
| Author: | Kyle Frownfelter | | Released: | 2004 | | Review: | The only thing I can think is that this is something the author wrote for
practice and decided to upload to the archive for unknown reasons. There are
four rooms with mostly one-line descriptions, the few objects mentioned are
undescribed, and the game can be completed in six moves. For the tiny bit of
text it contains there's also an inordinate amount of spelling and
grammatical errors, including the first word of the introduction. Really,
the only good thing that can be said about it is that if you decide to play,
you at least won't waste more than sixty seconds of your life. Pass.

One Week
| Author: | Papillon | | Genre: | Slice of life | | Released: | 2001 | | License: | Shareware | | Review: | Uses the CYOA interface to produce a remarkably cohesive and entertaining game about juggling the demands and problems of a high school senior. (Unlike some CYOA, this one returns to the same decision points instead of branching out wildly -- but what you've done already affects what options you have at future decisions. You can only spend money you've earned, for instance, and if you've spent the week goofing off instead of working, well, you're out of luck.)
Your choices over the course of the week described in the game create a profile of your character -- morally, socially, and academically -- leading to one of a very large number of endings. There are no puzzles, except inasmuch as the player may want to try for specific outcomes. Fun.

The Knapsack Problem
Spacestation (Planetfall sample transcript)
| Author: | David Ledgard | | Genres: | Adaptation
Science Fiction | | Released: | 1998 | | Review: | An implementation of the sample transcript included in Planetfall,
with some modifications. Not exactly up to the quality of
Balances; very little is implemented beyond the minimum necessary to reproduce the
transcript. The author indicates that it is a work in progress.

| | Review: | The second release of this one is fleshed out quite a bit more than the first one, so it's not just the Infocom sample transcript anymore. The additional content isn't especially revolutionary--standard sci-fi puzzles--but it's not bad either, and the implementation is reasonably solid. The ideas are still mostly Steve Meretzky's, but that's not a bad thing, and it works okay as an homage of sorts.

The Gate
| Author: | Owen Parish | | Genres: | Fantasy
Surreal | | Released: | 2004 | | Review: | Mostly conversation with an NPC in a dreamlike environment. There are multiple possible outcomes; what is frustrating is that it is never quite clear what any of these outcomes means, or why you are making this choice in the first place. If the conversation had revealed a background that was somewhat less vague, this would be a much more compelling piece.
