Eamon/MS-DOS

Eamon is a text-based RPG system originally written for the Apple II. Although the framework has been ported to other platforms, individual Eamon adventures are platform-specific. Thus, in order to play these games, you will need both MS-DOS (or some platform capable of running MS-DOS software, such as Microsoft Windows) and the basic Eamon software. (In some cases, the game is bundled with a standalone Eamon executable, but you will need some version of the the Main Hall program if you want to use the same characters across games.)

Long-time fans of Eamon are advised to download an Apple II emulator instead, so they can play these games and many other Eamons in their original form.
